Isn't it amazing the difference 24 hours can make? On Sunday, we watched General Conference in the comforts of our own living room. Since we are 8 hours ahead of Mountain Standard Time, we enjoyed the Saturday morning and afternoon session a day late. Things started out smoothly. I had activity packs for each of the kids to work on while I studiously listened and took notes on the conference addresses. Here's Ella matching up the apostle talking at the moment with his picture that we had hanging up:
And here's Jaxon actually singing along with the choir:
Ich singe nicht. Ich singe schlecht. (Translation: I don't sing. I sing badly.)
We all loved loved loved President Uchtdorf's talk. He inspired us to slow down and enjoy the simple things a bit. So, since he was a pilot and got us thinking about flying besides simplifying, the kids all went outside after GC to fly paper airplanes.
We had a good night and then it happened. Monday morning. Within minutes of two certain children waking up, there was whining. Then tears. Then more whining, this time with a side order of talking back. Then a dash of obstinence, a pinch of crankiness, and a teaspoonful of stubbornness. Mix it all together, bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes, and wah lah! Presto! Look what you end up with:
Are these the same children who were joyfully playing together yesterday after listening to Conference? Who listened to the Prophet's voice? Who listen to scriptures every day? Really? Oh well. Repeat cycle again. And again. We'll get it right eventually.
