Ice Skating

Ella has been asking to go ice skating for a while. That was the one thing she really wanted to do when Sean got back, so things worked out nicely last Saturday when we were invited to Kaitlyn Turner's birthday party at the ice skating rink. The last time we lived here the rink was a temporary structure set up under a tent: translation: COLD. This year they built a rink inside a building that is right by our church and the infamous Dino Park, so we were happy to be inside and not super cold. I had gone a few days before with the Young Women and Young Men in our church for an activity, and Jaxon went ice skating that night for the first time. He fell 12 times and loved it. He kept getting back up and trying again, and by the end of the night, a possible future ice hockey player was born. On Saturday, he and his buddy Spencer had fun skating around the rink. Remember Colton's first time roller skating a few months ago? Ice skating for Colton was a similar experience: lots of arm flapping and waving to try to keep himself upright. A few falls, but lots of laughs. He had a great time too. Ella went around one time and said she was done. Really? No way, she had been waiting MONTHS for this moment! She took a little break and told Sean she was ready to try again! That's my girl!! She ended up loving it too and doing great. And what about Mason? He was found playing with Aedan most of the time, not really excited about trying out the ice. Maybe next time. He did play with the little penguin guy that beginner skaters can rent to hold onto, so that's a start. Here are some pictures of the ice skating adventure:
