Little Blue Riding Hood

Colton rocks. Let's just start with that. He is soooo helpful and is always trying to do things that make me happy. He has wanted to go by himself to the little German store, Wasgau, that's around the corner to pick something up that I might need for a while. He loves the idea of independently going and getting something from the store. So yesterday, we needed some bananas. I turned to Colton and asked, "Are you up for the job?" He immediately grabbed his jacket, the basket, and asked for some euros. Here's a picture of him embarking on his journey:

He was successful. Then Jaxon asked for cherries. Hmmm Wasgau has cherries. Colton returned for Trip #2. The cherries were well received and all eaten quickly. "Colton!!! We need you again!" So, when all was said and done, Colton ended up going to the Wasgau four times yesterday by himself. The last time was to get brochen (rolls) for Jaxon's bratwurst (German hot dog). I think he is now considered a regular at the store and will greet him with a "COLTON!" quite similar to "NORM!" when he walked into Cheers every night (remember that show? Late 80's?).
We didn't do too much exciting stuff yesterday. The kids played, we got some groceries, and took Jaxon to the doctor's for allergy medicine.
Jaxon really wants to write a book. He is always talking about things that happen "in his book". Sean and I continue to ask him, "Where's the book? How's it going? How much have you written?" And usually Jaxon just dodges and evades those questions. Well, yesterday, I caught him at the computer, writing his book. Cool. He wants to be one of the youngest authors ever. Eragon's author, a 19 year old, has inspired him.

A favorite time of day is story time. Mason would be perfectly happy with a juice cup, blankie, and stories all day long. Here he is ready for some reading:

And here's Colton able to squeeze in a little piano practicing when he wasn't at Wasgau:
