MASON'S BIRTHDAY!!!

We celebrated Mason's birthday on Labor Day, since the kids were all home from school and we had the whole day to play and have fun. (Shhh, we told Mason that today is his birthday, not tomorrow, don't tell!)
He woke up and wanted Nerds for breakfast. Not a geeky kid with zits and bad hair, but the candy. So here he is eating Nerds out of his Buzz Lightyear bowl with a spoon. (He did eat something slightly more nutritious later)

We had a full day of fun planned, so we started right away with opening presents.
Look how cute he is walking into the living room to open presents:

Mason got a cool new set of PlayMobil dinosaurs that his brothers were all too willing to help him set up:

We saved the best for last: a new bike for Mason. This is a cool German bike, look closely: no pedals. You see little German kids zipping around on these things everywhere, just using their own Fred Flintstone feet. It gets them used to balancing on just two wheels without the crutch of training wheels. Mason took one for a spin around a toy store, and I think it was a hit. So, we had to get him one. Plus, this one is German colors: red, yellow and black. When in Rome...

After opening presents, we went to the Monte Mare swimming pool with our favorite people, the Turner's. It wasn't too crowded, but I think High School Musical: German Vacation was being filmed there because the only other people there were a group of about 12 teenagers. Seeing how those girls spent the whole time rearranging their bikinis and flirting, (flirting is a universal language, no interpreters necessary) makes me SO glad to be past those high school years. But, I digress, back to the pool... Mason still didn't want to go down any slides this time, but we had a ton of fun hanging out in the big pool, the kiddie pool, playing in the lazy river, and even chillin' in the hot tub.

Here's Ella showing me how she can hold her breath and put her face under water.

You know how swimming always makes you hungry? Mason too, so he needed some quick carbs in the form of Double Stuff oreos for a little snack:

After swimming, we made a run to BK for lunch. Here's Mason in his German crown:

After lunch we were off to Yabadoo. The kids were divided where to go for Mason's birthday, and figured out that Mason would always choose the second of two choices you offered him. So, the discussion went something like this:
"Mason, do you want to go to Kinderspiel or Yabadoo?"
"Yabadoo"
"How about Yabadoo or Kinderspiel?
"Kinderspiel."
"How about lobsters or cavier?"
"Cavier"
"Cavier or liver?"
"Liver"
Sooo, being the Mom, I stepped up to the plate and made the executive decision to go to Yabadoo. (It was closer, a little smaller, and I like the lady who runs the joint).
Here's Mason and Ella on the cool rolly thingies that I'm sure have a German name but I don't know it.

Here's Ella and Colton on top of the volcano:

Mason 'boinging', as he affectionately calls bouncing on the trampoline:

Eating an Alien cupcake from Toy Story:

Opening his present from the Turner's: a cool cowboy hat and Playmobil toys:

And here are some more pictures of the kids having fun at Yabadoo. Mason wanted to do the bungee trampoline. He has never wanted to do it before, and I was excited that he wanted to do something new, that didn't involve him being attached to my hip at the time.

The best part of the day was hearing Mason laugh as we walked to the car because he was playing with the fart goo that I bought for all the kids as party favors. He thought it was SOOO funny to make "toot" sounds.(FYI: I hate the word fart. It is 'toot'ing in my house. Passing gass: fine. Breaking wind: ok. Farting: not allowed.)
