Wednesday, July 21st

Today we spent much of the day at home. It is nice to have some lazy summer days and just play. Well, the kids had a lazy morning, I cleaned like crazy. I am almost done with cleaning the whole house, but by the time I finish, I will need to start all over. I did the main level today. Colton pitched in and helped sweep some stairs, his room, and wash some floors. That kid has a seriously awesome work ethic. Mason spent the morning and part of the afternoon in jammies, playing with Ella.
You can't tell the time on the clock behind him, but its about 1:20 in the afternoon and here he is, still in jammies.

After cleaning, we played some games. Card games have become quite popular in our house. I know some people don't allow face cards in their house, but as long as the cards don't have scary or ugly faces on them, I don't mind them. We haven't turned our living room into a casino quite yet, no bets are being taken and there are no signs that strip poker is being played when I'm not looking, so I think we're ok and gonna keep playing go fish, uno, and some of the new games that the kids picked up last week on vacation. Here's Jaxon and Colton playing uno together:

Ella and Mason love board games, especially ones that have tons of pieces and are way too hard for them. They love to take out all the pieces, spread them out as much as possible, then act like Houdini and vanish, leaving me with a huge mess to clean. We played (well, took out and moved the pieces around) Zooreka. Ella has been loving this charades game, and is really good at it, so we played that for a while too.

We went to the movies on base to see Despicable Me. Have you seen it yet? If not, I won't ruin it for you and tell you what happens, but it is cute and we enjoyed it. I think I even heard Jaxon chuckle at one point. Ella's favorite adult (besides me of course) Helen Evett, her preschool teacher and fellow church member, sat right next to us during the movie. That was an extra special treat. I just adore Helen. So, a good day: a clean house, a movie, games, and besides a total melt down by Mason during scripture reading, happy kids. Woo Hoo!
